Introduction to Aquatic Bodywork

Imagine being floated, held, and moved through warm, body-temperature water. The weight of your body is freed from gravity and introduced to new movements that are impossible on land or on a massage table, your spine is free and your nervous system is profoundly relaxed. The possibilities for bodywork exploration are endless in this warm water environment.

We will work with aquatic massage techniques, and movement therapies. On emotional levels, we will work with the breath, the dance between giving and receiving, initiating and following movement, and being present with our clients. Aquatic bodywork engenders trust, incredibly deep states of relaxation, nurturing, trauma exploration, pain relief, stress relief, and more. This level of awareness is valuable for all of your bodywork, whether in the water or on a table.

This 8-hour hands-on class will take place in a large heated swimming pool. You will be introduced to three forms of aquatic bodywork (Watsu, Healing Dance, Waterdance). We will focus on safely working with someone in the water, learning some great aquatic 'moves', how to improvise and bring your own style of bodywork into the water, experiencing deep relaxation, and mostly, having fun!

This in an introductory class, and does not apply towards Watsu certification.
